CCSD general manager to hold open-door session Wednesday

Cambria Community Services District general manager Matthew McElhenie will host an open-door session on Wednesday in the Cambria Veteran's Memorial Hall.

The public is welcome between 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. Refreshments will be available.

McElhenie said it will be an opportunity to "engage in dialogue about everything Cambria."

Some topics up for consideration by the CCSD board soon water meter upgrades, an open finance committee position, and a response to the California Coastal Commission on development permits. Here are some of the issues coming before the board, according to McElhenie.
  • The district is considering updating the assignment of banking powers to ensure effective management of financial transactions and accounts.
  • An open position on the Finance Committee needs to be filled, and the district plans to advertise the vacancy to attract qualified individuals.
  • The Ad Hoc Committee presented their report on the monthly Strategic Plan update and tracking process, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • The district is considering changing the meeting dates for the Strategic Plan Workshop to accommodate scheduling conflicts or improve attendance.
  • The district will review the current scope of work of the Policy Committee and consider appointing a new Chairperson if necessary.
  • The approval of a letter to property owners regarding the use of emergency evacuation routes will help ensure the safety and preparedness of the community.
  • The project description for the Water Reclamation Facility's Coastal Development Permit application will be modified to address concerns raised by the Coastal Commission.
  • The district plans to upgrade water meters to enhance monitoring and management of water consumption.
  • Repairs to the San Simeon water transmission main and effluent line will be discussed, aiming to improve the reliability and efficiency of the water distribution system.
  • An amendment to the contract with Stillwater will address concerns raised by the Coastal Commission and revise the scope of services for the Instream Flow Study, an important component of the Coastal Development Permitting process.
  • The district will amend the District salary schedule, possibly reflecting changes to salaries or job classifications.
  • The district will discuss the possibility of contracting with a registered investment advisor to seek expert assistance in maximizing financial returns.
