The CSD voted on May 25th to apply for a funding grant through the California Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), which would match the existing funds raised for the project. If awarded, the grant is expected to be announced in 2024, bringing the total funding for skate park construction to $1.2 million.
The skate park's construction has been in the works for several years, with efforts from Skate Cambria and community members. The park aims to promote outdoor play and benefit the mental, physical, and social health of Cambria's youth. The grant would also provide the opportunity to secure the park as a public space under National Parks Service protection.
