Last week, a strong wave pounded a house near Cambria, causing damage and wounding a resident inside.

It occurred on Sherwood Drive at around 10 in the morning.

A "very large rogue wave," according to the Cambria Fire Department, smashed the house's ocean-facing windows.

Firefighters report water damage throughout the residence, where a resident was knocked over and had minor injuries but declined medical transport.

“We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the dangers that exist along the Cambria coastline. We have one of the most gorgeous beachfronts, but with that beauty comes a need to be vigilant of changing water and weather conditions. The recent weather event has brought high tides and waves to Cambria and everyone should take extra caution near the coastline,” the department said in a social media post.

Many Central Coast beaches have reported big waves and a high tide.
